ACC2000: Importing Page May Cause Import Process to Fail

When you import objects from another database, the entire import process may abort and you see the following error message:

Microsoft Access is unable to open the data access page. The file does not exist, or you do not have read access to the file.


CAUSE

The database contains a data access page where the underlying HTML file has been deleted, has been moved to a different folder, or has been renamed.


RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, use either of the following methods.

Method 1

If the HTML file is in a different folder or has been renamed, follow these steps:
  1. Open the page from within Microsoft Access.


  2. When you get the prompt to locate the HTML file, click Locate and browse to the folder that contains the file.


  3. Select the appropriate HTML file, and then click OK.


If the HTML file was deleted; open the database and delete the page.

Method 2

When you select the items to import, do not select a page that does not have the correct links to an HTML file.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.


MORE INFORMATION

When you see this error, some objects may not be imported. These objects are a page (with a name appearing alphabetically after the page that causes the error), macros, and modules.
