ACC2000: Problems You May See When Naming Data Access PagesID: Q201852
|
You may notice one or more of the following behaviors with the name of a data access page:
The name of a page in the Database window may be different from what you typed in the Save As dialog box.
-or-
The name of the page in the Database window and the associated HTML file have different names.
-or-
You may receive the following message when you type a similar name or the same name that you originally typed in the Save As dialog box:
The object name '<name>' you entered doesn't follow Microsoft Access object-naming rules.
The first time that you save a page, the file name that you supply is for the HTML file. Microsoft Access then uses the name of the HTML file to create the name of the shortcut to this HTML file that will appear in the Database window. If any character is not valid for the name of a page shortcut in Access, that character is automatically changed to an underscore (_).
To avoid this behavior, only use names that contain valid characters for Access objects.
For more information about valid naming conventions, click Microsoft Access Help on the
Help menu, type "guidelines for naming objects" in the Office Assistant or the Answer Wizard,
and then click Search to view the topic.
