ACC2000: Shortcut Keys May Not Work in Access ProjectID: Q223201
|
Certain shortcut keys that you use in Microsoft Access databases (.mdb files) do not function as expected when you use them in Microsoft Access projects (.adp files).
For example, the CTRL+ALT+SPACEBAR shortcut key combination inserts the default value in an Access form. However, this shortcut key combination causes an Access project form to move to the first record.
The following table shows if a shortcut key combination available in an Access database has the same functionality in an Access project:
Shortcut Key | Use in Access database | Same functionality in Access project? |
---|---|---|
CTRL+SEMICOLON (;) | To insert the current date | Yes |
CTRL+COLON (:) | To insert the current time | Yes |
CTRL+ALT+SPACEBAR | To insert the default value for a field | No |
CTRL+APOSTROPHE (') | To insert the value from the same field in the previous record | Yes |
CTRL+PLUS SIGN (+) | To add a new record | Yes |
CTRL+MINUS SIGN (-) | To delete the current record | Yes |
SHIFT+ENTER | To save changes to the current record | Yes |
SPACEBAR | To switch between the values in a check box or option button | Yes |
CTRL+ENTER | To insert a new line | Yes |
F9 | To recalculate the fields in the window or to refresh the contents of a Lookup field list box or combo box | No |
SHIFT+F9 | To requery the underlying tables; in a subform, this requeries the underlying table for the sub-form only | No |
