XL: Clicking on Workbook Behind a Chart May Cause Excel to CrashID: Q189355

If you click on a Microsoft Excel workbook, you may receive an error
message similar to one of the following, depending on the version of Excel
and the operating system you are using.
Application Error. Excel caused a General Protection Fault in module EXCEL.EXE at 001B:2D36
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
EXCEL caused an invalid page fault in module Excel.exe at 0137:5000a21c.
If you click Details, you receive an error message similar to the following:This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
EXCEL caused an invalid page fault in module Excel.exe at 015f:301258f4.
An application error has occurred and an application log is being generated.

Exception: access violation(0xc0000005), Address: 0x30118c96
This problem may occur when the following conditions are true:
To prevent this problem, activate the workbook in the background before clicking on it. To do this, click the name of the workbook on the Window menu.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article.
