XL97: Rotated Cells Incorrectly Display Zeros

SYMPTOMS

Cells display a zero value although they contain other values.

CAUSE

This problem may occur when all of the following conditions are true:

You use the General number format.
```
    -and-
```
You format rows to have a specific height.
```
    -and-
```
You format cells to have a rotated orientation.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, use any of the following methods to change one of the conditions listed earlier.

Method 1: Use a Number Format Other Than General

1. Select the cells with rotated text.

2. On the Format menu, click Cells.

3. On the Number tab, in the Category list, click any format other

   than General. Click OK.

Method 2: Increase the Row Height

To adjust the height of the row to accommodate all of the text in a cell, follow these steps:

1. Select the cells with rotated text.

2. On the Format menu, point to Row, and then click AutoFit.

Method 3: Change the Rotated Text Property

1. Select the cells with rotated text.

2. On the Format menu, click Cells. Then, click the Alignment tab.

3. Under Orientation, type 0 (zero) in the Degrees box. Then, click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
