FP2000: Spell Checker Does Not Spell Check Shared Borders

The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMS
FrontPage does not spell check the Shared Border of a web page.
CAUSE
Shared Borders are stored as separate files in the _borders folder. When you insert a Shared Border into a page, the Shared Border uses the Include Bot to give the illusion that it is actually part of a web page.
RESOLUTION
To spell check the Shared Borders of your web, use one of the following methods.
Method 1: Spell Checking Shared Border Files Using The Entire Web Option
To spell check the shared border pages using the "Entire Web" options, follow these steps:
- On the Tools menu, click Web Settings.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Click to select the "Show documents in hidden directories" check box.
- Click OK.
- Click Yes to refresh the web
- Switch to Folders View.
- On the Tools menu, click Spelling, and make sure the Entire Web option is selected. Click Start.
- Double-click each page to run the Spelling feature.
Method 2: Spell Checking Shared Border Files
To spell check the Shared Border files, follow these steps:
- On the Tools menu, click Web Settings.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Click the "Show documents in hidden directories" checkbox to select it.
- Click OK.
- Click Yes to refresh the web.
- In Folders View, double-click the _borders folder to expand it.
Note: There are four files that may appear in your _borders folder based on your selection in the Shared Borders dialog.
The four Shared Border files are:
top.htm
left.htm
right.htm
bottom.htm
- Press SHIFT and click to select all Shared Border files in the _borders folder.
- On the Tools menu, click Spelling.
- In the Spelling dialog box, click to select the "Selected page(s)" option and, click Start.
- Double-click each page to run the Spelling feature.

Microsoft FrontPage 2000 has the ability to check spelling as you type.
This feature may be used to notify you of spelling errors in the Shared
Border region of your web page. This feature is noticeable, because
FrontPage underlines the misspelled word with red, wavy lines.
To activate this feature, follow these steps:
- On the Tools menu, click Page Options.
- Click the General tab.
- Click to select "Check spelling errors as you type" check box.
