FP98: 32-bit TCP/IP Missing Error After Installing Winsock 2.0ID: Q194347
|
When you attempt to start FrontPage, you may see the following error message:
FrontPage requires 32-bit TCP/IP networking. You do not have 32-bit TCP/IP networking installed. Would you like to see help on how to install it?
This message appears after you install Windows Sockets (Winsock) 2.0. FrontPage may not detect that you have TCP/IP installed if a dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) server is not available. If you are connected to the network, and a DHCP server is available, FrontPage will operate normally.
To resolve this behavior, restore Windows Sockets 1.1 and then install the Windows Sockets 2.0 update. To do this, follow these steps:
C:\<windir>\ws2bakup\ws2bakup.batwhere <windir> is the folder in which you installed Windows.
"c:\<windir>\ws2bakup\ws2bakup.bat"(without the quotation marks) and press ENTER.

<path>\W95ws2Setup.exe
where <path> is the folder in which you saved the Ws2setup.exe file
when you downloaded it. Click OK.
