SYMPTOMS

If you edit broken hyperlinks in the Verify Hyperlinks dialog in Microsoft FrontPage, your corrections are not saved.

CAUSE

This problem may occur after you import a directory or web that contains links to corresponding files that are located above the root directory of the Web server.

For example:

If you are using Internet Information Server, the default root directory of the web server is the following path:

   c:\InetPub\Wwwroot
Hyperlinks that are located in C:\InetPub\ or higher in the directory structure will be broken.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use one of the following methods:

Method 1: Importing Files

When you import files, make sure that the destination of your hyperlink is located below the root directory of the Web server (then you may rearrange the files once they are imported into the FrontPage web).

Method 2: Editing Hyperlinks

If you have hyperlinks to content located higher in the file path than the root directory of the Web server, follow these steps:
  1. In the Broken Hyperlink view, click Edit Page.

  2. Fix the link by editing the link in FrontPage Editor.
