FP98: Flipping an Image Does Not Flip the Text Overlay

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to vertically reverse an image that has a text overlay by clicking the Flip button on the Image toolbar, the image flips but the text overlay does not.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the text overlay is a separate component from the image and the Flip command affects the image only.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, you can add a text overlay to an image and flip the image in Microsoft Image Composer. To do this, follow these steps.

NOTE: Image Composer Version 1.5 ships with FrontPage 98 for Windows. If you have a different version of Image Composer installed on your computer, the steps to flip the image may be different than those that follow. It is possible to add a text overlay and flip the image in Image Composer. The steps for doing so will differ in different versions of Image Composer. The following steps are the steps to do this in Image Composer 1.5

1. In FrontPage Editor, double-click the image. The image will open in

   Image Composer.

2. Click the Text tool on the toolbox (located on the left-hand side of the

   Image Composer window).

3. In the Text tool palette, select the values you want to use for your

   text overlay.

4. Draw a text box over the image and then type the text you want.

5. Click anywhere outside the text box. Move the text box to the location

   you want.

6. Select the image and the text box. Click the Arrange tool on the

   toolbox.

7. In the Arrange tool palette, select the Flip options you want.

8. On the File menu, click Save. In the File Format Limitation message box,

   click OK.

9. On the File menu, click Exit.

   You will now see the flipped image in FrontPage Editor.
