When you attempt to create a file, you may receive the following error:

The program may not be installed.
The program may not be properly registered in the Windows registry.
Some of the necessary program file association information may be missing or damaged.
You may be creating a new document in the Insert Hyperlink dialog box and not typing the file extension along with the file name.
If the program is a part of Office, rewrite the correct file association information in the Windows registry. To do this, follow these steps:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\<program>.exe /unregserverwhere <program>.exe represents the program file you need to register again. If you have installed Microsoft Office to another location, use your correct path for the program file.
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\<program>.exe /regserverwhere <program>.exe represents the program file you need to register again.
