OFF2000: Office Assistant Reminder Stops Computer with Hauppauge WinTV Full Screen

When the Office Assistant appears with a message over a TV window from the Hauppauge WinTV Radio Card, your computer may stop responding.

CAUSE

The problem occurs when the following conditions are all true:

You have a Hauppauge WinTV Radio Card installed and configured to show FullScreen TV mode in its own fixed resolution.

The TV application is started.

The Office Assistant is displayed (not hidden) in Microsoft Office programs.

The Office Assistant appears for some reason (for example, to display an appointment reminder in Microsoft Outlook).

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, try one of the following:

Right-click on the Office Assistant and click Hide, so that the Office Assistant is not displayed with the reminder.

Change the Hauppauge WinTV Radio Card to Window TV mode instead of FullScreen TV mode.

Change the Hauppauge WinTV Radio Card to No Resolution Change instead of FullScreen TV mode.
