SUMMARY

When you install Microsoft Office 2000, only one Office Assistant is fully installed. The Clippit character is installed by default.

MORE INFORMATION

When you run the Office Setup program and click Install Now, the following Office Assistants and their associated files are installed in the Office folder:

   Assistant File
   --------- ----

   Clippit Clippit.acs, Clippit.acg
   Dot Dot.acg
   F1 F1.acg
   Genius Genius.acg
   Logo Logo.acg
   Links Offcat.acg
   MotherNature Mnature.acg
   Rocky Rocky.acg
Note that the Clippit character installs two files, Clippit.acs (actor file) and Clippit.acg (preview file). The other seven actors install preview files (.acp) so that you can preview these characters on the Gallery tab of the Office Assistant dialog box.

When you change the Office Assistant, the .acs file for that particular character will install in the Office folder. The Office Assistant uses the "install on first use" method which minimizes hard disk space and the initial installation time.

To change Office Assistants, follow these steps:
  1. Display the Office Assistant if it is not currently displayed by clicking Show The Office Assistant on the Help menu.

  2. Use the right mouse button to click the Office Assistant and click Choose Assistant... on the shortcut menu.

  3. On the Gallery tab, click either Back or Next to preview the available Office Assistants. When you locate the one you want, click OK.

If your Office installation source is not available, you will be prompted to insert it (if you installed from a compact disc), or you will be prompted to connect to the network drive you installed Office from.
