OL97: Area Code Not Added to Contact Phone Number

SYMPTOMS

Neither the +1 United States country code nor the area code is added to your Microsoft Outlook 97 Contact's phone number when you type a 7-digit number that begins with a 1.

CAUSE

Since there are not any valid local phone numbers in the United States that begin with the number 1, no dialing properties are applied.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook 97.
