Change the E-mail type from MSN (or MSNINET) to SMTP by following these steps:
1. Open a contact and right-click the email address and then click
Properties.
2. Click the Address tab and next to E-mail type, type SMTP.
3. Click Save and Close to close the contact.
An E-mail type of MSN and MSNINET will not be recognized as a valid Email type with the Internet mail transport. Thus, the error is generated.
If you have trouble changing your e-mail type from MSN to SMTP, or for more information on other issues after upgrading to MSN 2.5, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

8. On the Tools menu, point to Synchronize and click All Folders.
NOTE: You must be connected to the server for this step.
Some SMTP servers require that addresses be enclosed in angle brackets. This is particularly true for older mail server systems. In addition, your e-mail name, which is defined in the Internet E-Mail information service properties, must also be enclosed in angle brackets.
For Example the e-mail addresses should have this format:
<myemailname@ISP.COM>
Check with your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for their addressing
requirements.
For other people with newer servers to be able to reply to your messages, you must type your e-mail name in the Reply Name box without angle brackets.
This error message can be created if the E-mail type is something other than what the mail server is expecting. Just as above in the section about upgrading to MSN 2.5, if the e-mail type is not SMTP the error will be generated.
1. On the Go menu, click Contacts.
2. Click to open the contact that is generating the error message.
3. Right-click the e-mail address, and click Properties.
4. On the Addressing tab, next to E-mail type, type SMTP, if it is blank or
different. There must be a value in this field.
Note: SMTP is the standard Internet e-mail type. If you are unsure what
e-mail type you are using, contact your Internet Service Provider.
5. Click OK and then Save and Close the contact.
