SYMPTOMS

When using a shortcut on the Outlook Bar to browse to a folder that is several levels deep, you may receive the following error message when attempting to open a file:

Outlook caused an invalid page fault in module mso97.dll

Outlook Bar behavior problems include shortcuts that do not work, or error messages when you use the Outlook Bar. You can rebuild the Outlook Bar by starting Outlook with the command line switch, /ResetOutlookBar.

To Rebuild the Outlook Bar

NOTE: Rebuilding the Outlook Bar will remove any custom shortcuts you may have added.
  1. Quit Outlook.


  2. Click Start, and then click Run.


  3. In Open, type:
    
    Outlook.exe /resetoutlookbar 
    NOTE: There is a space character between Outlook.exe and the forward slash (/).


  4. Click OK.
