OL97: System Memory and Resources Errors with Compaq Laptops

SYMPTOMS

You are using Microsoft Outlook 97 on a Compaq Presario 1220 or 1220ES laptop. When you open or save an item you may receive an error message stating that the computer is out of memory or system resources.

CAUSE

There are two scenarios where this problem may arise:

• You may have received and applied the Compaq Softpaq update 6545 to your Compaq Presario laptop.
  
  -or-



• Your Compaq Presario laptop may have had the Softpaq update applied at the factory before you purchased it.

RESOLUTION

If you are experiencing this error using Outlook 97 on a laptop that has had the Softpaq applied to the operating system, you must contact Compaq to determine steps to remove the update.

If you have other needs which the Softpaq update addresses and you also intend to use Outlook 97, contact Compaq technical support before applying the update.

These errors do not occur with Outlook 98.
