OL98: (CW) Troubleshooting MSFax Message Stuck in The Outbox

The information in this article applies to:

NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Corporate Workgroup/Other option. This option allows you to use Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) services. To determine your installation type, on the Help Menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Corporate" if you have the Corporate Workgroup installation.

SYMPTOMS

This article describes how to troubleshoot problems with MSFax messages that get stuck in the Outbox without providing you a method to stop or delete the message.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, use either of the following methods.

Method 1

  1. Quit Outlook.


  2. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.


  3. Double-click the Mail or Mail And Fax icon.


  4. Remove MSFax from the profile.


  5. Start Outlook and delete the fax items from the Outbox.


  6. Repeat steps 1-3, but add MSFax back into the profile.


Method 2

  1. Quit all programs.


  2. Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the <Windir>\Spool\Fax folder.


  3. Move all of the files in this folder to your <Windir>\Temp folder.


  4. Restart your computer.


  5. Start Outlook and if the fax message is still in your Outbox, delete it.


  6. Attempt to send a new fax.
