SYMPTOMS
You want to designate a Contacts subfolder in the Windows Address Book as
the default address source for e-mail messages, but you find that the top-
level folder is always selected.
RESOLUTION
To address an e-mail message using Contacts, use either of the following
methods.
Method 1
You can access addresses in subfolders through the Windows Address Book,
but you cannot make the subfolder the default folder in this view.
To send mail to a recipient in a subfolder, follow these steps:
- Select the recipient in a subfolder of the main Contacts folder.
- On the Action menu, click New Message To Contact.
- Complete the message and then click Send.
Method 2
You can address a message using the Windows Address Book search function.
To perform a search for a specific person, follow these steps:
- In Outlook, press CTRL+SHIFT+P.
- Select a Contacts folder in the Look In list.
- Type the person's name in the Name box and click Find Now. You can use
the full name, any part of the name, or a single letter.
- Right-click the name in the Search Results list and click Send Mail.
The Find People dialog box keeps the most recently searched address source
in the Look In box.
