OL98: (IMO) Connection Error Using MCI Internet MailID: Q179440

When you start Microsoft Outlook 98 or first connect to your MCI Internet Mail server, you may receive the following error message:
Following this message, you may notice that sent mail does not leave your Outbox.Dial-up networking settings not valid. Please check your password.
This behavior may result from incorrect settings in the Internet Mail service properties. Follow these steps to troubleshoot this behavior:

mailxx.mci2000.comNOTE: If your mail server information is different than that which is shown above, use the server name provided by MCI.
The MCI Internet Mail system uses one server for receipt of messages and a
second server for sending messages. In the Internet Mail service profile,
the Internet Mail server box identifies the mail server from which you
receive mail. The advanced options of the Internet Mail service profile
enable you to name the sending e-mail server.
