OL98: (IMO) Outlook Caused Page Fault in Module INETCOMM.DLLID: Q184073
|
In Microsoft Outlook, when you attempt to send or receive an e-mail
message, you may receive the following error message:
NOTE: In some cases the page fault has been observed to occur in Module Kernel32.dll.OUTLOOK caused an invalid page fault in module INETCOMM.DLL at 0157:5e.
This error message may occur if you install the Windows Sockets (Winsock) 2 Update, but do not update Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) using the Vipup20.exe and Vtcpup20.exe files.
NOTE: If you have not already installed the Winsock 2 upgrade (Wsockupg.exe), you should do so before continuing with the following steps. To resolve this behavior, run the Vipup20.exe and Vtcpup20.exe files from the Microsoft Software Library. To do this, follow these steps:
<drive>:\<windows>\ws2bakupWhere <drive> is the drive letter on which the Windows folder is located, and <windows> is the name of the folder in which Windows is installed.
If you install the Winsock 2 Update but do not update TCP/IP, the Inetcomm.dll file is not updated to a version that is compatible with the Winsock 2 Update. When you install the Vipup20.exe and Vtcpup20.exe files, the Inetcomm.dll file is properly updated.
For information about how to obtain the Vipup20.exe and Vtcpup20.exe files
from the Microsoft Software Library, please see the following articles in
