The information in this article applies to:
With Microsoft Outlook 98 AutoSignature, when you apply bold formatting to text in the TrueType font Bookman Old Style, the bold formatting is not applied.
The font weight description of Bookman Old Style Bold is 600. The typical font weight description for other bold fonts is 700. When the font style value comparison is made internally, the Bookman Old Style bold value does not meet the requirements of other bold fonts, and the bold font style is not applied to the text.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook 98. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
To see an example of this problem, follow these steps:
1. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Mail Format
tab.
2. Click Signature Picker and click New.
3. Type the name of this signature and click Next.
4. Type your text in the Signature text box.
5. Select the text and click Font.
6. In the Font list, click Bookman Old Style.
7. In the Font Style list, click Bold, and then click OK.
For more information about creating and using an AutoSignature, type "AutoSignature" in the Office Assistant, click Search, and then click to view "Sign messages with AutoSignature."
