OL98: ENTER Key Does Not Open Journal Entry Within a Contact

SYMPTOMS

The ENTER key does not open a selected Journal entry in an open Contact. You can select the Journal entry by either pressing the TAB key to move to it or by clicking to select it. Once selected, the ENTER key will not open the Journal entry.

RESOLUTION

There are two methods for opening Journal entries from within a Contact.

Method 1

To open an embedded Journal entry using key strokes, follow these steps:

1. In the open Contact, press CTRL+TAB to select the Journal tab.

2. Press the TAB key to select the embedded Journal entry.

3. Press CTRL+O to open the Journal entry.

Method 2

To open the embedded Journal entry with the mouse, follow these steps:

1. From within the open Contact, click the Journal tab.

2. Double-click the Journal entry.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook 98. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
