SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Outlook 98, applying a color formatting control to tasks with a status of "in progress" may not change the color of tasks in progress.

To work around this problem, use the Advanced filtering options to apply to "in progress" items, or other status conditions of tasks. To do this, follow these steps:

1. On the Task folder's View menu, point to Current View and click

   Customize Current View.

2. Click Automatic Formatting and then click Add.

3. Type a name for this new rule, such as "In Progress" (without the

   quotation marks).

4. Click Font, click to select a unique color from the list and click OK.

5. Click Condition and then click the Advanced tab.

6. Click Field, point to All Task fields, and click Status.

7. In the Value list, click to select "in progress" and then click

"Add to list." Click OK three times.

All tasks with a status of "in progress" should change to the selected color.
