SUMMARY

Integrated File Management for Microsoft Outlook 98 is an add-on component that enables you to search your computer's local hard disk or a network drive for any type of file. It also lets you create a shortcut on the Outlook Bar for a file folder.

Integrated File Management adds the following capabilities to Outlook.

Searching the File System for a Specific File

To search the file system for a specific file, follow these steps:

  1. In Outlook, click Advanced Find on the Tools menu.


  2. In the Look For list, click to select Files.


  3. Enter additional search criteria as necessary, and click Find Now.


Creating a Shortcut on the Outlook Bar for a File Folder

To create a shortcut on the Outlook Bar for a file folder, follow these steps:

  1. On the Outlook Bar, click the group to which you want to add the shortcut.


  2. Right-click the background of the Outlook Bar where you want to add the shortcut, and click Outlook Bar Shortcut on the shortcut menu.


  3. In the Look In list, click File System.

    NOTE: If "File System" is missing from the Look In list, the Integrated File Management component has not been installed. See the "Reference" section later in this article.


  4. In the Folder Name box, click to select the folder you want and then click OK.


  5. If the folder you want is a subfolder, double-click the folder.
