OL98: Overlapping or Adjacent Meetings Deleted from Calendar

ID: Q75056

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

You are using Microsoft Outlook 98 and collaborate with others users who use Microsoft Schedule + 1.0. You notice that some accepted meeting requests sent from these users are being deleted from your Outlook Calendar.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if the appointments have been booked by different Schedule+ 1.0 users, and the appointments either run consecutively or overlap in the Outlook Calendar.

When you accepted the second overlapping or consecutive Schedule+ 1.0 appointment, the existing Schedule+ 1.0 appointment that is already present is deleted by Outlook.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook version 8.5.5104.6.

A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. If you are not severely affected by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Exchange Server 5.5 Service Pack.
