CG5: Cannot Copy and Paste from Clip Gallery

SYMPTOMS

If you attempt to paste a clip from Microsoft Clip Gallery into a ClipArt placeholder on either the Clip Art & Text or Text & Clip Art PowerPoint slide layouts, your clip may not paste, and you may also recieve a system beep.

CAUSE

When Clip Gallery is run from the ClipArt placeholder, you can only use the Insert button to insert a clip to the placeholder. You cannot use the copy and paste technique with selected clips when you open Clip Gallery from a PowerPoint ClipArt placeholder.

WORKAROUND

If you want to use the copy and paste technique to insert a clip image to a slide, you can start Clip Gallery 5.0 by using one of the following commands:

Click the Clip Gallery button located on the Drawing tool bar.

On the Insert menu, point to Picture, and click Clip Gallery.

To copy the image, select the Clip that you want, and press CTRL+C. Return to the placeholder, click to select it, and press CTRL+V.

STATUS

Clip Gallery is in a special mode when activated from a PowerPoint ClipArt placeholder.
