PPT2000: "Paste All" From Office Clipboard Pastes Incorrectly

ID: Q220648

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Paste All command from the Office Clipboard, independent text scraps may paste into an Autoshape that is also on the Office Clipboard. Other text scraps may also not be pasted at all.

CAUSE

PowerPoint allows you to paste text into any autoshape that is selected. When you use the Paste All command from the Office Clipboard, each object is pasted to into your presentation, and is then selected. The object will remain selected until the next object on the Office Clipboard is pasted.

If the first scrap object that is pasted onto the slide is an Autoshape, and the next scrap that pastes is a text scrap, the text scrap will be pasted into the Autoshape, rather than as a separate text frame on the slide.

NOTE: If you have multiple text scraps, only the last text scrap will paste, as each text scrap that pastes will replace the previous pasted text.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
