PPT2000: Presentation Broadcast: Fonts Are Replaced on Audience Machines

ID: Q226716

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

During a Presentation Broadcast, the TrueType fonts that you use in your presentation do not appear on one or more Audience Members' screens. Instead, the TrueType fonts are replaced by a different set of TrueType fonts.

CAUSE

By default, PowerPoint 2000 does not embed TrueType Fonts in presentation broadcast files. This is to reduce the over all file size of the presentation.

RESOLUTION

You can embed TrueType fonts into your Presentation Broadcast by first embedding them in the presentation file itself.

How to Embed TrueType Fonts

  1. On the File menu, click Save As.

  2. Click Tools, and then click Embed TrueType Fonts.

  3. Click Save.

NOTE: You can embed any TrueType font that are installed by Windows. Other TrueType fonts can be embedded only if they have no license restrictions. If a font cannot be embedded (for example, it is not marked as being editable or installable), a message appears to tell you the cause. NOTE: If you save a presentation with embedded fonts, the file size of your presentation increases. PowerPoint 2000 supports Edit-level TrueType font embedding. This means that if you open a presentation that contains embedded fonts which are not already installed on your system, you can use those fonts on other text within the same presentation, but you cannot use them in other presentations or applications.
