SYMPTOMS

You cannot insert a clip image into a PowerPoint 2000 table cell to make it a part of the cell's background. If you try this, the image appears above the table, rather than in the selected table cell.

WORKAROUND

Use a Picture Fill

To assign a picture to be the fill for a single table cell, follow these steps:
  1. Select the cell you want to add the picture fill to.

  2. On the Format menu, click Colors and Lines.

  3. Click on the Fill tab.

  4. On the Fill color list, click Fill Effects.

  5. On the Fill Effects dialog box, click the Picture tab.

  6. Click Select Picture, then browse until you find the picture you want to import.

  7. Click OK, then click OK again.

The image is now the background to the table cell.
