PPT2000: Double-Clicking on Clip Image in Clip Art Placeholder Does not Ungroup image

ID: Q226632

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

If you double-click a Clip image in the Clip Art placeholder on either the Text & Clip Art or Clip Art & Text layouts, no results are seen. You are not prompted to convert the clip image to PowerPoint drawing objects.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, ungroup a Clip image that is inserted into the Clip Art placeholder. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Right-click the clip image, and click Edit Picture.

  2. You will receive the following message:
"This is an imported picture, not a group. Convert it to a Microsoft Office drawing?"
    Click Yes.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

This behavior differs from prior versions of Office in that once you insert a clip image into any Office application, it is treated as an imported picture, rather than as a Clip Gallery Clip image.

This behavior improves performance and allows for new features with Microsoft Clip Gallery.
