SYMPTOMS

HTML Import Errors

Problems came up in the following areas during load:
Data is corrupt (<path>/pres.xml)

You will not be able to open this HTML presentation in PowerPoint.

CAUSE

This behavior can be caused by custom slide show settings in PowerPoint when the custom slide show is saved as a Web Page. This behavior can also occur for other reasons, including corruption.

If you have created a custom slide show in PowerPoint that uses the same slide more than once, this behavior can occur. When you save a Custom Show that uses the same slide more than once, the duplicate slide is incorrectly referenced in XML.

RESOLUTION

There is no current workaround or solution to this problem. Web presentations created from custom slide shows which reference the same slide more than once, will not open in PowerPoint 2000.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft PowerPoint 2000.
