PPT2000: Hyperlinks That Run Programs Don't Function in HTML Presentation

SYMPTOMS

If you use any Action setting in PowerPoint 2000, the Action Settings window will not be active when you save your presentation in the HTML format. Also, if you try to use a URL in the Run Program box, PowerPoint 2000 will not be able to run the program.


STATUS

This behavior is by design.


MORE INFORMATION

If you use the Hyperlink feature to use a URL to point to a program file, the program file will be downloaded to the computer of the person who is browsing your page. In many cases this is not a desirable result by the user or those people who have set their browser security to High.
