SUMMARY

When you record a narration in PowerPoint 2000 and branch to an embedded presentation, the branching is not recorded. In addition, the narration you record, while viewing the branched presentation, will be attached to the slide that contains the embedded presentation and not reside within the embedded presentation.

MORE INFORMATION

Record Narrations Separately

To have a Narration follow a branched presentation, it is best to record the narrations separately. It is best to record and embed the narration sound files first for the embed presentation before you actually embed it in the main presentation.

Embedding Narration Sound Files

To embed a narration sound file, follow these steps:
  1. On the Slide Show menu, click Record Narration.

  2. In the Record Narration dialog box, click to clear the Link Narrations in: check box.

  3. Record your narrations and save the timings for the narration.

After you embed your presentation(s)in the main presentation, record your narration for the main presentation, without branching to the embedded presentation(s). Afterwards, you will want to set the slide timings for the branch slide to manual. This will allow you to click on the embedded presentation to branch to it and continue with the slide show.

Setting Slide Transition to Mouse Click

To set the slide transition to mouse click, follow these steps:
  1. On the View menu, click on Slide Sorter.

  2. In the Slide Sorter view, select the slide that has the embedded presentation by clicking once with the mouse.

  3. On the Slide Show menu, click Slide Transition.

  4. Click to clear the Automatically after X seconds check box.

Where X is the number of seconds that had been set for the slide transition.

  5. Click Apply.

  6. Repeat steps two through five for any other slide that contains an embedded presentation.
