ID: Q218554

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Background fill on an Autoshape and your slide background is set to either a Texture, Pattern, or Picture, the background fill in the Autoshape will not correctly match or align with the background of the slide.

NOTE: You will see this same behavior when you print your presentation.

WORKAROUND

To workaround this problem, you can set the background fill of the slide to either a single color or to a gradient fill. The background fill for the Autoshape will then match and align perfectly.

Change Slide Background Fill to a Gradient Fill

To change the slide background fill to a gradient fill, follow these steps:
  1. In Slide view, click Background on the Format menu.

  2. In the Background fill list, click Fill Effects.

  3. Click the Gradient tab.

  4. Select the options you want, and click OK.

  5. To apply the change to the current slide, click Apply.

To apply the change to all slides and the slide master, click Apply to All.

Set Slide Background Fill to a Solid Color

To set the slide background fill to a solid color, follow these steps:
  1. In Slide view, click Background on the Format menu.

  2. To change to a color in the color scheme, in the Background fill list, click one of the eight colors below Automatic.

To change to a color that is not in the color scheme, in the Background fill list, click More Colors. Click the color you want on the Standard tab, or click the Custom tab to mix your own color, and then click OK.

To change the background color back to its default, in the Background fill list, click Automatic.

  3. To apply the change to the current slide, click Apply.

To apply the change to all slides and the slide master, click Apply to All.
