PPT2000: PowerPoint Remains in Background When PowerPoint File is Opened

SYMPTOMS

When you double-click the program icon of a PowerPoint presentation to open it, PowerPoint may remain in the background, and it appears that nothing happens.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if PowerPoint is already open in the background, or is minimized on the Task bar.

WORKAROUND

The PowerPoint presentation is open, but it is hidden. Click the PowerPoint icon on the taskbar to bring PowerPoint to the foreground.

Alternatively, you can press ALT, and press TAB until Microsoft PowerPoint is selected. At that point, release both keys, and PowerPoint will become the active application in the foreground.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft PowerPoint version 2000 for Windows 98.
