PPT2000: Presentation Using Template Ignores Default Setting

ID: Q212305

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

If you format and save a Default Presentation.POT with a custom orientation or size, and save your changes, when you choose a new presentation with a specific template, the presentation does not use the new default slide settings.

RESOLUTION

To keep your custom slide setup, select Blank Presentation, and then add the template you want to use, rather than selecting Template in the New Presentation dialog box.

On the File menu, point to New, and then click Blank Presentation. The new presentation follows the default template. On the Format menu, click Apply Design Template, and click to select the template you want. The template is added without changing the orientation and size.

MORE INFORMATION

If you create a presentation based on a template, the size of the presentation is determined by the template. If you create a presentation based on the AutoContent Wizard, the size of the slide is determined by the Wizard.

PowerPoint uses the saved information in the Default Presentation file only if you have created and saved a Default Presentation.POT, and only when you choose the Blank Presentation option in the New Presentation dialogue box.
