SYMPTOMS

When you save your PowerPoint presentation as a Web page, some of the text may be converted to a picture when you view it in your Web browser. Also, some of the text, or other objects in your presentation, may not be visible in your Web browser.

CAUSE

If a text box contains text that extends further than the edge of the PowerPoint slide, the entire text box may be rendered as a picture image when you save it as a Web page for version 3.0 browsers. In addition, only the slide will be rendered as HTML. Objects that overlap the edges and objects in the margins will be cut off or discarded.

RESOLUTION

Resize the text box so that it fits on the slide before you save it as HTML 3.0. Regardless of the HTML version, objects that are not on the slide will not be displayed in a Web browser.

Alternatively, you can resize the PowerPoint slide so that it is large enough to contain the text box. This change will affect every slide in your presentation.

  1. On the File menu, click Page Setup.

  2. Resize the Height or Width as needed to contain your text box.

  3. Click OK to apply your changes and save your Web page again.

STATUS

This design feature is under consideration for revision in a future version of Microsoft PowerPoint.
