SYMPTOMS

When you use using the fax wizard to create a new fax that includes a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation as an attached item, PowerPoint may stop responding (hang) and fail to send the fax. Eventually, the following message may appear in your mail Inbox.

"System Administrator Undeliverable: <Subject line for Fax>"

NOTE: PowerPoint is able to send a fax if you print the presentation to the Microsoft Fax driver.

WORKAROUND

1. Open a PowerPoint 97 presentation.

2. On File menu, click Print.

3. In the Print dialog box, click Microsoft Fax as the printer to which to

   print, and then click OK.

NOTE: If Microsoft Fax is not listed, Fax services is not installed.
You must install this before continuing.

4. In the Fax Wizard, determine the location from which you are dialing,
   and then click Next.

5. Enter the number to which you want to send the fax. You can either enter
the number manually or use the number in the address book, and then
   click Next.

6. The next screen in the Fax Wizard prompts you to include a cover page.
Make a selection and click Next.

7. The next screen in the Fax Wizard prompts you to provide a subject title
as well as a note. Enter some text and click Next.

8. The next screen in the Fax Wizard informs you that you are ready to send
a fax. Click Finish to begin sending the fax.

This process allows you to send a PowerPoint Presentation as a fax.
