PPT97: Can't Type Text Into OLE Object Placeholder

SUMMARY

In Microsoft PowerPoint 97, if you create a slide that contains a placeholder for a specific type of OLE object (a graph, a Word table, an organization chart, a media clip, or a piece of clip art) and then try to type in that placeholder, nothing happens. If you create a slide that contains a generic object placeholder and then type into that placeholder, your text appears.

This behavior is different from PowerPoint 7.0. In PowerPoint 7.0, you can type text into any placeholder.

PowerPoint 97 has three different types of placeholders:

Text placeholders (the Title and Body Text placeholders)
Generic placeholders
Specific OLE placeholders.

You can type directly into text and generic placeholders, but not placeholders for specific OLE objects.
