PPT97: Save As HTML Command Unavailable (Dimmed)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft PowerPoint 97, the Save As HTML command on the File menu may be unavailable (dimmed).

CAUSE

You did not install the Web Page Authoring (HTML) component when you installed PowerPoint 97.

RESOLUTION

To install the Web Page Authoring (HTML) component, use the following steps:

1. Quit all applications.

2. On the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

3. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.

4. In the list of programs, click Microsoft Office 97 or Microsoft 

   PowerPoint 97, and then click Add/Remove.
5. In the Office 97 or PowerPoint 97 Setup dialog box, click Add/Remove.

6. Click to select the Web Page Authoring (HTML) check box.

7. Click Continue and follow the instructions on your screen.

You should now be able to save PowerPoint presentations as HTML.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem has been corrected in Microsoft PowerPoint 98 Macintosh Edition.
