SYMPTOMS

If a Microsoft Word document is inserted into a PowerPoint slide, the document may start "resizing and flashing" or "blinking and shrinking" when you double-click the object for editing.

This problem may occur under the following conditions:

  • The Word document includes a table that has a page field in the header or the footer.

  • PowerPoint is running on Windows NT.

  • RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, open the Word document in Microsoft Word 97, and use the following steps to delete the last paragraph mark in the document:

    1. On the Edit menu, click Select All.

    2. Press SHIFT+RIGHT ARROW.

    3. Press DELETE.

    4. On the File menu, click Save.

You can now insert the Word document in your PowerPoint presentation, and it should no longer exhibit the behavior described in the Symptoms section above.

    STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
