PPT97: Template Animation Lost When Saving from PowerPoint 97

SYMPTOMS

If you use one of the Presentation Design templates shipped with PowerPoint 97 that has custom animation applied to the master slide, and then save the presentation in PowerPoint 95 or 4.0 format, the custom animation is lost.

The following templates shipped with PowerPoint 97 have Custom Animation settings applied to the Master Slide:

• High Voltage
• Pulse
• Ribbons
• Whirlpool

CAUSE

PowerPoint 97 is the first version of PowerPoint to support animated objects on the Slide Master.

PowerPoint 95 and PowerPoint 4.0 do not support custom animation on the Slide Master. When you save a PowerPoint 97 presentation in PowerPoint 95 or PowerPoint 4.0, these effects are lost.
