WD: Can't Change Orientation of PowerPoint Slide in Word 7.0

ID: Q140741

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

After you insert a Microsoft PowerPoint slide object into a Word document, you cannot change the orientation of the slide using Word's in-place editing capabilities.

CAUSE

PowerPoint uses the internal defaults for new presentations using the Template, Pick A Look Wizard, or AutoContent Wizard options. The orientation and size information is not supplied from the specified template file, but from the internal PowerPoint defaults. Word 7.0 is relying on PowerPoint?s internal defaults by design.

PowerPoint 7.0 uses the saved information in the Blank Presentation.Pot file only when you choose the blank presentation option. The Pick A Look Wizard asks specifically for the type of output for this presentation; however, a custom size is not an option.

RESOLUTION
