SUMMARY

Internet Assistant adds HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) authoring features to Microsoft Word versions 6.x and 7.x. After you install this add-in, you can save Word documents in HTML format, open and preview HTML documents, create a new HTML document using the HTML template Internet Assistant provides, and insert hyperlinks in your documents.

NOTE: Microsoft Word 97 for Windows and Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition have HTML authoring features built-in. So, if you have one of these versions of Word, you do not need to install Internet Assistant. If you have these programs installed, Internet Assistant Setup will return an error.

To install Internet Assistant, download the version of Internet Assistant designed for the version of Word you are using; the versions of Internet Assistant are described in the "Download Internet Assistant" section of this article. (For instructions on downloading these files, see the "Downloading Instructions" section of this article.)

KNOWN ISSUES WITH INTERNET ASSISTANT

Can't Insert Images in a Word Document

This problem occurs when you have installed Microsoft Office 97 (or an Office 97 program, such as Microsoft Publisher 97), Microsoft Image Composer 1.x, or Picture It! 2.0, after you've installed the Internet Assistant 2.03z add-in for Word for Windows 95 (version 7.0 or 7.0a) or Word 6.0 for Windows NT. These newer Office programs install updated graphics filters for importing GIF and JPEG images. These filters are incompatible with Internet Assistant 2.03z and earlier. To insert images in your Word documents, install Internet Assistant 2.04z.
