WD2000: "Arial Unicode MS" Unicode Characters Do Not Print

The information in this article applies to:


SYMPTOMS

When you try to print a document containing Unicode characters entered using the Arial Unicode MS font, the text fails to print.


CAUSE

When you print to a network print server, the print job is rendered on the server with the server's resources. If the printer server does not have the font on the server, the problem described in the "Symptoms" section of this article occurs.


WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, you can use one of the following methods:

Method 1: Turn on Print TrueType as Graphics

To turn on the Print TrueType as graphics option:
  1. On the File menu, click Print.


  2. On the Print dialog box, click Properties.


  3. On the Fonts tab, click to select Print TrueType as graphics.


  4. Click OK.


  5. Click OK to print your document.



Method 2: Install the Arial Unicode MS Font to Server

You can install the Arial Unicode MS font to your print server. (See your network administrator.)

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
