ID: Q220492

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When you try to insert a contact from your Schedule+ Contact List using the Address Book feature in Word 2000, the following error message appears:

Word could not insert the address. One or more address fields are missing from the selected address book. Pick another address book or change your address layout and try again.

CAUSE

You are using Microsoft Exchange with Microsoft Schedule+ and have not upgraded to Outlook 2000 for your mail client.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use one of the following methods:

Method 1: Install Microsoft Outlook 2000

Microsoft Outlook 2000 uses your existing Schedule+ contacts to create an updated Outlook Contact List that can be used in Word 2000.

For additional information about installing Microsoft Outlook 2000, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Method 2: Open Your Schedule+ File in Word

If you first open your Schedule+ file, you can then insert a contact from your Schedule+ Contact List:
  1. In Word, on the File menu, click Open.

  2. In the Files of type list, click to select Schedule+ Contacts(*.scd).

  3. Go to the folder containing your Schedule+ file(s), and then click to select the file.

  4. Click Open.

  5. NOTE: You will not see a file open in Word.

  6. Repeat the steps you used previously to insert a contact from your Schedule+ Contact List.

Method 3: Replace Schdmapi.dll with Schdmapi.dll from Office 97

If you have Office 97, instead of installing Microsoft Outlook 2000, you can use the Schdmapi.dll file that shipped with Office 97:
  1. Close all open applications.

  2. Insert your Microsoft Office 97 CD into your CD-ROM drive.

  3. In Microsoft Windows Explorer, go to the following folder:

    <cd-rom drive>:\Office

  4. Find and click to select Schdmapi.dll.

  5. On the Edit menu, click Copy.

  6. In Windows Explorer, go to the following folder for the US-English version of Office 2000:

    <drive>:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\1033

On the Edit menu, click Paste to copy the Schdmapi.dll file to this folder.

  7. Click Yes to the prompt to replace the existing file.

  8. Repeat the steps you used previously to insert a contact from your Schedule+ Contact List.
