WD2000: Can't Underline Tab in Numbered Lists

SYMPTOMS

When you create a numbered list, you cannot underline the tab between the number and the text.

-or-

When you open a document created in an earlier version of Word that contains a numbered list where the tab between the number and the text was underlined, the tab is no longer underlined.

For example, the following underlined list,


1.  This is underlined, numbered text.
--------------------------------------

appears as follows in Word 2000:


1.  This is underlined, numbered text.
--  ----------------------------------

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
