WD2000: Err Msg: "This is not a valid selection"

ERROR MESSAGE

When you try to paste text into a vertical selection, the following error message appears:

This is not a valid selection.
NOTE: To select a vertical block of text, press and hold the ALT key while you click and drag the mouse pointer over the text.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because Word does not allow you to paste into a vertically selected block of text.


WHAT TO TRY

Word doesn't allow you to paste into a vertically selected block of text.

Cancel the vertical block selection and then position the insertion point at the location where you want the text to appear. Click Paste on the Edit menu.
