ERROR MESSAGE

When you try to create a new style or rename an existing style, the following error message may appear:

This style name already exists or is reserved for a built-in style.
NOTE: Microsoft Office 2000 has built-in functionality that allows you to get more information about difficult-to-troubleshoot alerts or error messages. CAUSE

Word does not allow you to name two styles with the same style name or name a style with the same style name as a default, built-in style.


WHAT TO TRY

Word does not allow you to name two styles with the same style name or name a style with the same style name as a default, built-in style.

To work around this, use a different style name to describe the style. For more information about styles, click Microsoft Word Help on the Help menu, type "styles" in the Office Assistant or the Answer Wizard, and then click Search to view the topics returned.
