WD2000: Hyperlink to Anchor or Bookmark Goes to Top of Document

SYMPTOMS

In Internet Explorer 5, when you open a Word document containing either a hyperlink or a cross-reference to a bookmark in the same or a different document (page), Word opens the document and goes to the top of the first page.

NOTE: Word does not jump to the specific bookmark contained in the document.


WORKAROUND

Save the Word document from Internet Explorer and then open the file in Microsoft Word.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
